Duplicate content is a common mistake observed in highly competitive niches. Often on sites with the same subject, you can find similar descriptions of goods and services, identical phrases, sentences and entire texts. To avoid duplicates, some web resource owners simply leave pages blank. Due to the partial or complete lack of unique content, such sites do not inspire confidence and are pessimized by search engines, that is, they fall under their filter.
Penalties for duplicate content
For a site to take a leading position in search results and be visited, each of its pages must be optimized with unique content. The presence of copied information on a resource may lead to specific sanctions from search engines:
- Decrease in the ranking of pages with duplicates;
- Exclusion of certain pages from the search engine database;
- Complete exclusion of the entire site from the ranking.
In addition to unique content, each page should carry a certain semantic load. If a resource contains unfilled or completely empty pages, this negatively affects the loyalty of visitors. At the same time, the duration of users' stay on the site is reduced and the bounce rate increases. This, in turn, has a negative impact on ranking results and conversion.
One way or another, the presence of duplicates and empty pages on a site does not allow it to reach the TOP and form customer loyalty. For successful promotion on the Internet, it is not enough to bring traffic to the site, it is much more important to work out behavioral factors and retain the user by engaging him in studying useful content.
